Please be aware that Atkinson Child Care College is currently in the process of revoking our VET Student Loans funding, this means that from the 30 April 2022 Atkinson's will no longer be able to enrol any new students using VET Student Loans. This decision by Atkinson's does not prevent us from continuing to deliver education and training as a Registered Training Organisation it simply means we will not offer VET Student Loans to any new enrolments. Please call us to see other options available to fund your studies.
 

It also means for those students approved for VSL prior to 30 April 2022, you can only access VSL for census dates up to 30 June 2022 for courses that students had enrolled and commenced training in with VSLs approved prior to 30 April 2022. We will be in contact those students who will be directly affected by this revocation.

 
VET Student Loans is an Australian Government Loan scheme for the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector and is part of the Higher Education Loan Program (HELP).

VET Student Loans commenced on 1 January 2017, and replaced the VET FEE-HELP scheme. The scheme offers contingent loan support to eligible students studying Diploma level and above vocational education and training qualifications.

Atkinson Childcare College (RTO ID 91239), also known as Atkinson Training and Development Pty Ltd, is a Registered Training Provider approved under the VET Student Loans Act (2016) to offer VET Student Loans to eligible students.

Am I eligible?

A student who wishes to access the VET Student Loans program must have meet the following eligibility requirements prior to acceptance of enrolment:
  • Be an Australian citizen, or
  • A qualifying New Zealand citizen, or
  • A permanent humanitarian visa holder, who is usually resident in Australia
  • Enrolling in a Diploma level or above course
VET Student loans is a fantastic opportunity that allows everyday Australians to be able to access Diploma qualifications and further their careers.

It takes the stress out of finding the money, so that you can focus on your learning.

Please be aware that VET student loans will not be approved for students who do not meet eligibility requirements.
VSL Courses for you
Upon completion of the Diploma, you will be a fully qualified Early Childhood Educator. This means you could gain employment as a Room Leader and a Nominated Supervisor / Director within a variety  of Children's Services.

You will be working with children from the age of 0-6 years.
Upon completion of the Diploma, you will be a fully qualified School Age Care Educator. This means you could gain employment as supervisor, co-ordinator or Director of a School Age Care Services (Before and after school care, OOSH, OSHC and vacation care).

You will be working with children from the age of 6-13 years.

Select your Course and complete your enrolment online
Choose from the course options above. If you work in Early Childhood or School Age Education and Care then select the left hand side option. If you work with Youth/ Teenagers then the right hand side option is for you.

Access to your learning portal will be emailed to you
Your invitation to our learning portal with Cloud Assess will be emailed to you, so it's important to check your inbox and also your Junk or Spam folders as the link may go there. A thank you page will pop up on your screen, you will be able to access your course link from there.

Access your Course and submit your completed assessment
Once you have access to Cloud Assess you will need to create a password. Don't forget to save the Cloud Assess login page to your favourites for easy access to your course.

VET Student Loan Eligibilty

To be eligible for VET Student Loans you must:

 - be an Australian citizen, or
 - a New Zealand Special Category Visa (SCV) holder who meets the long-term residency requirements, or a Permanent Humanitarian Visa holder
 - not have exceeded the FEE-HELP limit
 - be enrolled with an approved course provider in an approved course
 - be studying the approved course primarily at a campus in Australia
 - meet the Tax File Number (TFN) requirements
 - have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) or are otherwise exempt
 - have read the VET Student Loans information booklet
 - have provided the required documents to Atkinson Child Care College and submitted the loan application form by the first census day.

Please note for all students U18 you must gain permisson by a responsible parent if:

 - the student is under 18 years of age;
 - the student has a responsible parent;
 - the student has not received youth allowance (within the meaning of the Social Security Act 1991) on the basis that the student is independent

Further information for U18 students will be provided as part of the application of enrolment and permission will be gained using the Request for a VET Student Loan – Parental Consent – student under 18 years form.

Please be aware that VET student loans will not be approved for students who do not meet eligibility requirements.

Academic Suitability
Before you can access a VET Student Loan, Atkinson Child Care College must also determine if you have the ability to undertake the course. Atkinson Child Care College will ask you to:

- provide your Australian Year 12 Certificate, or
- provide evidence of successful completion of an Australian Qualifications Framework certificate IV or higher qualification (where the language of instruction is English)

If you cannot provide either of the above documents, you will be required to display competence at Exit Level 3 of the Australian Core Skills Framework in both reading and numeracy. Your competence will be assessed using the Australian Government approved assessment tool — Basic Key Skills Builder (BKSB).

In addition, Atkinson Child Care must reasonably believe you will be able to successfully complete the course. All applicants will be asked to complete the BKSB assessment tool to identify any extra support that may be needed.

Prior to enrolment into a course, you will be sent an email with BSKS logon details. Once you have completed the assessments, Atkinson Child Care will notify you of your results as soon as practicable after the assessment; and to the Secretary in the form, manner and by the time requested by the Secretary.

Atkinson Child Care will ensure it follows all policies and procedures to ensure this process will be conducted with honesty and integrity.
2022 VET Student Loans Fees and Schedules

You will be charged for the qualification on a unit by unit basis. For every unit of study in the qualification there is a Census Date as outlined in the VET Student Loan Schedule. Your VET Student Loan will be debited for any tuition fees that remain unpaid after choosing to continue each census date. If you choose to withdraw from a unit of study prior to the Census date, there will be no tuition fee for this unit added to your loan.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
When can I start my course?
You can start your course anytime throughout the year in line with your census dates. We do shut down for two weeks over the Christmas break, and will advise you of those specific dates.
What is a census date?
You will be charged for the qualification on a unit by unit basis. For every unit of study in the qualification there is a Census Date as outlined in the VET Student Loan Schedule. Your VET Student Loan will be debited for any tuition fees that remain unpaid after choosing to continue each census date. If you choose to withdraw from a unit of study prior to the Census date, there will be no tuition fee for this unit added to your loan.
Is this a Nationally recognised course?
Both Diploma courses are Nationally Recognised Training program. As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), Atkinson Child Care College only use Nationally Recognised Training Packages endorsed by National Skills Standards Council (NSSC). This is your guarantee that your course is accredited recognised nationally.
Can I study online?
The Atkinson Child Care College Distance Course combines online learning and also requires you to do workplace experience in a regulated child care service. This method ensures you are highly trained and prepared for your new role or will help you to further your career if you are already in a service and have the relevant qualifications.
How long will it take to complete my course?
Our mixed mode training enables you to complete the course at your own pace. The Diploma is usually a 24 month program that can be adapted to meet your individual learning needs. If you already have a Certificate III or a Certificate IV you can enroll as an Advanced Entry Learner and save time and money.
