This is a Nationally Recognised course which  is required by ACECQA that you can access online, making it now even more convenient to ensure your skills stay up to date.

We are passionate about protecting children and together we can help keep children safe. Our course has been designed specifically for educators, teachers, workers and volunteers working in both Children Services and other employment involving contact with children.  If you work with teenagers you may like to undertake our youth specific course. It is the same Nationally Recognised Course however the examples provided relate more to the needs of teenagers.

When do I receive my certificate?

  • This is an accredited course and assessments are marked by a qualified trainer
  • We mark asap however please leave a two week turn around for marking assessments.
  • Your Statement of Attainment will be sent digitally when deemed competent. If you require a hard copy it will be an additional charge of $25.

Does this course cover all States and Territories in Australia?
Yes. This course has been tailored to all states and territories to ensure the information relates to where you live or work. This unit includes how to identify, report and prevent potential risks from harming children and young people. It is so important that, as professionals who work with children and young people, we raise awareness of child abuse and obtain the skills to handle complex and sensitive situations to protect our children. This course is for all mandatory reporters and will provide you will the skills you need to make a report.

What currency do you take?
All payments are made in Australian Dollars (AUD).

What ‘Learning Materials’ are provided?
We have a comprehensive online learning platform where you can log into to obtain everything you need to do the course. On our platform, you will also find your learning guide and an assessment task so you can read online or download and print out. This is great if you prefer reading a printed version of your learning materials.

I am worried about online learning, what if I can’t do it?
Don’t be. We are here to help. We will support you not only in learning about child protection but in how to use technology.

What support do you offer?
We provide phone and email support by real people, based in Newcastle and our trainers are available during office hours to assist with your enquiries. Alternatively you can send us an email and we can call you back. We also have Facebook which can be found at Atkinson Child Care College where we post important updates, course information, graduation photos and more!

I have completed this course before, what does this mean for me?
If you have completed a superseded unit in the past and are upgrading your skills to the latest unit of competency, you may be eligible for RPL – Recognition of Prior learning. We need to receive a certified copy of your Statement of Attainment listing the unit of accredited training you have shown competency for in the past. Please ensure that this is a Statement of Attainment and not ‘attendance’. There should be national logos and course ID numbers on your transcript and was delivered by a Registered Training Organisation.

How long do I have to complete the course?
Once enrolled, you have access to our platform for 6 months from the day of enrolment onto Moodle. Past participants have completed this course in approximately 2-6 hours.

Are there any Exams?
No exams. You are given two options. will be asked to complete one written assessment task or an online quiz and show your knowledge after reading the material.

What is your Privacy Policy?
